Surrey’s councils are changing – have your say

The Government has decided the way in which councils in Surrey are arranged needs to change.

This means Runnymede Borough Council, as well as all other borough and district councils in Surrey, and Surrey County Council could be shut down and replaced by either three or two councils to run all services.

This will mean services your business or employees currently use could be provided differently and priorities may change. This change is likely to start happening in the next two years.

Runnymede’s borough councillors voted strongly in favour of having three councils. Local councillors believe that would result in:

?Stronger public services designed around local needs.

? Better alignment with local identities and communities.

? Greater opportunities for economic growth and infrastructure delivery.

? More responsive and accountable local governance.

The Government is asking local business and residents now about whether they would prefer to have three councils or two. You can have your say by clicking on the link below.
