High Street re-opening government initiatives
Through the ‘Welcome Back Fund’, the Council has so far supported local businesses with FREE social media training webinars, launching the Shop Safe, Shop Locally campaign, to promote local high street and neighbourhood businesses. We launched a film for businesses to share with customers, reassuring them that PPE measures have been implemented across the borough’s high street businesses. If you wish to share the film share the following link??
The funding is time-limited by the ERDF and will cease in March 2022, but the Council expects that by spending the grant wisely, during that time and drawing on the strength of local people and organisations, its impact can be felt in the longer term.

'Shop Safe Shop Locally' campaign
We are determined to make 2021 a year that supports local businesses and our high streets. We know how hard the lockdown was for everyone, especially for small local businesses. Find out how you can be part of this campaign.
Business Runnymede and Runnymede Borough Council have been working in partnership with Reopening High Street Safely and the ‘Welcome Back Fund’ to run a campaign, #shopsafeshoplocally to encourage our businesses to think about unique ways of helping each other to make their presence on the high street even stronger.
Our campaign aims to help businesses to make sure our local community knows that we are working together, using government guidance to keep us all safe whilst supporting our towns. You can download a poster here to print and display, let your customers know you are a safe place to visit. If you don't have a printer contact us.
Tag us in your shop front photos showing your posters and stickers and we'll share them on our Business Runnymede Instagram page! Don't forget to use our hashtag #shopsafeshoplocally
If you think your high street does not have any signage please email: email@example.com to get a sign put up in your shopping parade.
Plans for further projects and temporary improvements to our high streets and neighbourhoods are being developed with consultation from retail businesses and community leads. If you have any questions about this fund email: firstname.lastname@example.org
